In short

  • We collect what's needed to run your radar: your account, what you follow, your alert settings and how you use the app.
  • We don't sell your data, and we don't see what you play on Spotify, YouTube or Apple Music.
  • Notifications and emails are your choice and can be switched off any time.
  • You can export or delete your data, and delete your account from Settings.

This summary is for convenience. The full text below is what applies.

1.Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] (“we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use SoundRadar — the website, the installable web app and related services. We are responsible for (the “controller” of) the personal information described here.

[COMPANY LEGAL NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS] · [DATA PROTECTION CONTACT / DPO — if required]

2.What we collect

We collect only what we need to run your radar:

  • Account details — your email address, an optional display name, and sign-in information (a securely hashed password or the sign-in provider you chose).
  • Your radar — the artists, genres, regions and release types you follow.
  • Alert and reminder settings — notification mode, quiet hours, timezone and the reminders you set.
  • Device and notification data — your browser's push subscription, notification permission state, and basic device and browser type.
  • How you use SoundRadar — saves, “listened” marks, dismissals, which provider link you open, and which alerts you open.
  • Calendar feeds — if you subscribe to your Drop Calendar, a private feed link we generate for you.
  • Messages you send us — for example support requests or release corrections.
  • Technical logs — IP address, timestamps and error reports, used to keep the service secure and working.

3.What we don't collect

We don't receive your listening history from Spotify, YouTube or Apple Music. When you tap “Listen on…”, we record that you opened a link — not what you played.

[PAYMENTS — confirm: no payment data is collected at launch]

4.How we use it

We use your information to:

  • show your personalised feed, Drop Calendar and catch-up, with the reason each release appears;
  • send the alerts, digests and reminders you've chosen, at the right time in your timezone;
  • suggest related artists and releases you might like;
  • keep SoundRadar secure, prevent abuse and fix problems;
  • improve the accuracy of release information and the usefulness of alerts;
  • tell you about important changes to the service.

5.Our legal bases

Depending on where you live, we rely on: performing our contract with you (running your radar and alerts), your consent (push notifications, optional emails — you can withdraw it at any time), and our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention and improving SoundRadar).

[CONFIRM APPLICABLE LAWS AND BASES WITH COUNSEL — e.g. Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023; GDPR / UK GDPR where relevant]

6.Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with artists or labels. We share it only with:

  • service providers who run parts of SoundRadar for us under contract, such as hosting, email delivery and error monitoring;
  • browser push services (operated by your browser's maker) that deliver notifications to your device;
  • authorities, when the law requires it;
  • a successor organisation, if SoundRadar is ever merged or sold — with notice to you.

[LIST OF SERVICE PROVIDERS — hosting, email, push, analytics if any — complete before launch]

7.Links to other services

When you open a release on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music or a calendar provider, you leave SoundRadar. Those services' own privacy policies apply.

8.Cookies and local storage

We use essential cookies and your browser's storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and let SoundRadar work offline. We don't use advertising cookies.

[ANALYTICS — if analytics cookies are added, describe them here and ask for consent first]

9.How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within the period below, except where we must keep it longer by law. Push subscriptions that stop working are removed automatically.

[RETENTION PERIODS — account deletion: [X] days; logs: [X] days; backups: [X] days]

10.Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain uses. You can also:

  • change or switch off alerts in Settings, or block notifications in your browser;
  • unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email;
  • revoke your calendar feed link in Settings;
  • delete your account in Settings.
